What to expect
Tmatboey lies within Kulen Promtep Wildlife Sanctuary in Cambodia’s Northern Plains, protecting one of Southeast Asia’s largest remaining dry deciduous forests. Specialist SVC guides work with community bird guides who track Giant Ibis, White-shouldered Ibis and other rare dry-forest species, often beginning before dawn for the best chance of sightings.
The community ecotourism project was established with Sam Veasna Conservation Tours and the Wildlife Conservation Society, linking tourism income to no-hunting and forest-protection agreements. Current SVC options include a 2-day/1-night tour from US$710 and a 3-day/2-night tour from US$1,111. Remote-road conditions vary by season and wildlife sightings are never guaranteed.
