The experience

What to expect

Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Center is a 2,000-hectare Forestry Administration facility about 38 km south of Phnom Penh. Wildlife Alliance veterinarians and animal-care specialists support more than 1,400 rescued animals representing over 100 species, including Asian elephants, tigers, gibbons, otters, hoofstock, birds and reptiles. Animals able to recover are prepared for release; those unable to return to the wild receive permanent care.

The former Wildlife Alliance Behind-the-Scenes tour was discontinued on 30 September 2025, but the rescue centre remains open to general visitors. Visit respectfully, follow enclosure and feeding rules, and avoid any unauthorised animal interaction. Transport, admission, opening conditions and any independent guide service should be confirmed before travel.
