Khmer New Year 2026
Cambodia welcomed the Year of the Horse from 14–16 April 2026 with family reunions, pagoda ceremonies, traditional games and community celebrations nationwide.

What to expect
Khmer New Year, or Chol Chnam Thmey, was observed nationwide from 14 to 16 April 2026. The Year of the Horse formally began at 10:48 AM on 14 April, with Reakyaksa Devi recognized as the New Year angel.
Families returned to their hometowns, visited pagodas, made offerings, built sand stupas and joined traditional games such as Chol Chhoung, Leak Kanseng and Bos Angkunh. The three days are known as Moha Sankranta, Vireak Wanabat and Vireak Loeung Sak.
